The Pursuit of Happiness

July 4, 2021

Good morning friends!  It’s the first Sunday of July!  Happy Independence Day America!  I hope you are all doing well.  Enjoy a happy, safe and fun day celebrating our freedom!  Today is an extra special day in our country’s history.  It provides us with an opportunity to thank God and extend our gratitude to live in this amazing land.  We enjoy a unique setting, both in beauty and way of life.  America is like no other place on earth.  I am thankful for the opportunities this nation has provided.  The pursuit of happiness is up to you.  It’s not something you are given, purchase or gain from others.  Happiness is a state of being, created and maintained by each of us individually.  It doesn’t magically materialize from how much money you have, fancy cars or earthly possessions.  Happiness begins within you; including your attitude, kindness, gratitude and positive perspective.  If you aren’t happy, it’s time to change your mental state of being.  When I change my thoughts, I change my world.  It’s that simple!  Many of our ancestors immigrated here so they could live in peace, freedom and happiness.  It’s time we begin each day by showing more respect and understanding toward one another and our nation.  All people exist on this planet together, as the human race.  Life is short, so let’s make every day the best it can be.  Let’s set the example for the all the world to see.

What can I say about Independence Day (and the birth of our nation), that hasn’t already been said or expressed?  Let me share a few simple thoughts on the subject.  I am proud to be an American!  If you want to be something other than that, why are you here?   We are fortunate, lucky and blessed to live in this great and beautiful land.  Since our country was founded 245 years ago, we have enjoyed many freedoms, rights and civil liberties.  No, our country isn’t perfect, but then no nation (or any individual), will ever be perfect.  Life or happiness aren’t about perfection or failure.  These are mythical terms created by man, existing only to serve their greedy needs.  Life continues (and changes daily), no matter what is occurring in our world.  Each of us can only strive to do our best every day.  The past may be littered with conflict and tragedy, but it is also abundant with amazing feats and splendor.  America endured many conflicts, hardships and battles throughout its inception, growth and history.  Other nations across this planet have experienced similar events and circumstances.  Our nation continues to grow, struggle and evolve daily.  Change, expansion and development occur naturally over time.  This often occurs with or without us even noticing.  There are many wonderful facets about our nation that I love and cherish.  Americans possess the ability to recognize and identify issues that derail progress.  When we work together to resolve problems or concerns, it makes our nation stronger.  We have a unique way of bonding and uniting for a common good.  Don’t believe or allow the division or hate agenda of a few break us apart.  We are a nation of diverse and amazing people.  Our country unites US; under one flag, one anthem, one cause and one nationality.  We are all Americans.

America is a land of innovation, creativity, dreams and adventure.  These concepts began when explorers first landed on this soil and recognized it’s potential.  Opportunities abound for all; but you must be willing to work to achieve success.  Nothing is ever accomplished by inactivity or  without effort.  Yes, we have a history, as does the entire planet.  Events that occurred in the past may not always be pleasant.  Some incidents might not make us proud or may even disgust us, but our country evolved and grew.  The vast majority of Americans (or people on this planet) haven’t been alive long enough to have a direct connection to past events; other than through distant ancestors or relatives.  We are not responsible or accountable for what occurred in years ago.  The history of America, or of the world, can’t be changed or altered.  Tearing down or destroying monuments, eliminating stories from books or not teaching our history in school, won’t change anything.  It only serves to further darken our present and create division.  “We, the people” need to live in the present and be engaged in positive change.  We should embrace the past, as we do with all world history.  What we learn from the past makes us better, more informed and better educated individuals.  Knowledge, information and experience are the keys to success.  Don’t ever stop learning, reading or educating yourself.  The more we know about history, the less likely we are to repeat the bad or ugly parts.  Knowledge empowers us to overcome obstacles, bringing hope for a brighter future, while energizing us to do better.

Our nation is founded on the principles of freedom and the pursuit of happiness.  This country provides all Americans the freedom to live and pursue their dreams.  Your task is to work every day to make your dreams reality.  It isn’t the government’s responsibility (or the tax payers) to ensure your happiness.  That entity is entrusted to each of you to supply and maintain.  Together we can live happy, healthy and vibrant lives.  Remember the freedom you enjoy is never free.  Many have sacrificed themselves since the founding of our nation.  Thousands of men and women have died so you can enjoy this day.  My advice to you, get outside and cherish our independence!  Take off the mask, toss it away, breath in the air and soak up some sunshine!  Begin today, and each new day, with gratitude and kindness.  I guarantee this mindset will improve your attitude and life.  Stop trying to please everyone.  Don’t fear change.  Stop living in the past.  Don’t over think everything.  Stop waiting and start living.  Seek new adventures, share experiences and enjoy your life.  Follow your dreams.  They know the way.  Celebrate our great nation, our freedom and America’s Independence Day.  I love our great nation. I hope you do too!

Please tune in and join me again next Sunday for more!  The healthy life puzzle is always in rotation.  Let’s be healthy and strong mentally, physically and spiritually!

Thanks for your love and support!  Embrace Life!  Be sure to get outside and enjoy nature!

My goal is to be a better me. I want people to be more aware about mental and physical health. We are all humans living on this planet. Let's enjoy our lives, happy and healthy. It's okay to smile and help others along the way.
