January 2, 2022
Good morning friends. Happy 2022!!! It’s the start of a brand New Year! What’s your plan to make this a better, happier, healthier or more productive year than last. Have you given it any thought? If not, you better get busy. The way 2021 flew by, I have no doubt time won’t be slowing down. I’m excited to get the new year rolling. There is so much I want to do, see, write about and experience. There is a world full of life and adventure out there waiting for new plans, stories and memories to be built. It’s never too late to dream new dreams, create new passions or reach for new stars. My first exciting adventure for the New Year, will kick off right now. I’m seizing this opportunity to promote my newly launched Instagram page. I hope you’ll “follow” me at: @menempoweringtheworld
As I step into the New Year, I have two questions I’m asking myself. I want to share them with you. First, “What kind of person (or who) do I want to be; beginning now and moving forward into the year?” The second question, “What kind of people do I want to share time with and surround myself with for a better life?” These may be questions you’ve asked yourself at some point in the past. I know I’ve considered both, but did I really follow through with the process or just fold. People always talk about New Year’s resolutions or goals, but how much effort do they put into turning them into reality? Are goals, resolutions or intentions more than just a conversation piece for holiday parties, or are they for our own self-satisfaction? In some instances, they may be idol talk. I believe these ideas are really what we want to achieve, either for our improvement or for others. In some instances we may not know how to achieve what we really desire.
My intention for 2022 is to be a better human, better friend and much better partner. I’ll be using my voice, my power and my soul to spread happiness, positivity and love. I continue to believe in the magic and power of the universe. Life is an amazing and incredible gift to be cherished. Each sunrise provides us a new opportunity to seek happiness, gratitude and love. It’s our choice to follow through or not. I thank God each day for the fabulous gift of life. I’m always grateful for the many blessings in my life. If my day doesn’t go as expected, I do my best to push any the challenges or obstacles in my path. I don’t allow negativity to gain a foot hold in my thoughts. I practice mindfulness, while remaining present throughout the day. I’m not perfect, without struggles or free from trauma. The difference, I make the conscience choice every morning to live each day in happiness.
Life can be fun, interesting, sad or a crazy adventure. It’s filled with twists, turns and surprising events. My life has been good. I’ve had struggles and situations that have been tough, sad and heartbreaking. As a young kid I thought I knew what I wanted and which direction to go. Each year I learn a new lesson, some of which I actually listen to and place into action. Other messages that have gone ignored. The direction of my path wasn’t always in my best interest. It’s fascinating how the universe has a way to “auto correct” me along my journey. As the years pass I realize how much of life is beyond my control. What I want or think is best, may not always be possible. I strived for perfection for much of my life, thinking that if I controlled all aspects of my life, it would be perfect. Realizing that wasn’t possible was difficult to accept, especially after being in law enforcement half of my life. Being a police officer required total control of every situation I encountered; which could mean the difference between life or death. Unfortunately, that type of command doesn’t work well in many other aspects of life, especially relationships.
The critical life experiences and lessons I’ve learned, help me evolve, grow and do better in life. The last seven years (during retirement) have revealed many new and unexpected insightful aspects about me. My path lead me to an incredible woman and love. My ego and stubbornness played a role in the loss of that love. As 2022 begins, my journey will focus on my happiness, gratitude and positivity every day. My optimistic attitude and open communication help me be a better partner. A happy and confident me will enter a relationship without an ego or competitive agenda. Two happy people know that they can enjoy a more fulfilling relationship together because they aren’t dependent on each other. They each bring their happiness, while creating a fun and exciting life together. Life will always have challenges and issues to deal with along the way. Being better equipped to resolve any obstacle makes life easier and relationships last.
My intention is to utilize my wisdom, knowledge and insight for my personal happiness and the benefit for everyone I encounter on my journey. Humans are social creatures. We find pleasure and solace sharing our life with a partner. I believe sharing life with a fabulous partner is one of the most amazing experiences on this planet. I want a partner who shares my dreams and passions, while understanding the demons I’ve dealt with along the way. It’s true, that it takes two individuals to make a relationship work or not. I’ve allowed my foolish thoughts, ego, control issues and stubbornness to sabotage my past relationships. It’s not a pleasant commentary to me or my life. I believe that true love conquers all. When you share an amazing connection and love for another person (that is shared by both), it’s a bond that lasts forever.
I’ll share more of my personal story with you this year. My goal is to spread more positivity, insightful messages, health, wellness, exercise tips, (as well as my life encounters, struggles) and more. Originally, I wanted to inspire men to share their thoughts, feelings or emotions freely, without judgement. Growing up, I was shown how men are strong, tough, don’t cry or show emotion. Those misguided instructions followed me through life. Men still have difficulty and struggle with these issues today. Opening your heart and soul isn’t a sign of weakness. Revealing your emotions and feelings openly indicates you’re a man of kindness and strength. Sadly, I’ve had friends, acquaintances and known of so many others (men and women), commit suicide because they believe they didn’t meet the standards set by society. We have been manipulated, controlled or pressured into believing freedom of self-expression isn’t possible. Men and women experience anxiety, fear or reluctance when revealing their true self becomes difficult, controlled or manipulated. Society, and its long time misconceptions regarding how males or females should act, has turned forms of self-expression into something evil, bad or unwanted. This is primarily due to past beliefs on how each gender should act, in or out of public view. It’s a sad tale of our heritage and society. Don’t ever be fearful of allowing your emotions to be freely experienced or expressed. It’s okay to be human, because we all are equally just human beings.
The journey through life will never be perfect. Even if you encounter struggles along the way, remain happy with yourself, confident in your abilities and grateful for life. The adventure of life begins when we slow down to experience the beauty around us. The sights, sounds, smells, tastes and touching of life can be complex or chaotic at times. Each situation teaches us something new. Don’t wait to live life. Learn from each experience and grow. Too often we speed through our days, never taking the time or advantage of all the glorious wonders we pass and miss along the way. Take the time to enjoy and relish in every moment. Follow your dreams. They know the way.
